gossip girl

When the show first started I LOVED it. I enjoyed every minute of it, I anticipated for the next episode and I was practically obsessed. What I loved about the show was how it was all about these rich kids going to high school on a extremely cool place called Upper East Side, going to parties, hooking up, breaking up. Basically, I loved the high school drama which appeals to many other teenagers. 

However, ever since Season 3, the show seemed to have lost the touch. The true meaning of Gossip Girl was gone. The lack of technology, the lack of high school dramas. I thought that they should have started the show with their freshman year in high school, cos after they graduated in Season 2, the idea of College was just too foreign for Gossip Girl. It didn’t match. I just didn’t feel it anymore. Everyone was getting mature, the plot focused on entirely different things in Season 1 and 2 which was undoubtedly the best seasons. Season 4 was actually not bad, but nothing can beat Season 1/2. High School drama, what happened to it? 

The show is still good, but I think it has lost it’s original fans by losing the meaning of the show. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I really miss the plots in Season 1 and even Season 2. But I guess they can’t really do anything now that the characters have already grown up, and are no longer immature teenagers growing up. 

Which brings me to another point. Will the show survive? Will there even be a Season 6 after Leighton leaves? Yes apparently Leighton is quitting Gossip Girl after the next Season, and I seriously cannot imagine Gossip Girl without Blair Waldorf. And I heard a rumour that Ed is leaving too? Come on, no Chuck and Blair? What’s there to watch?

I really can’t imagine the Gossip Girl characters being mature adults. What dramatic plot is there going to be? Where’s the fun without high school drama? And I don’t know how long my love for Gossip Girl will last, cos it was starting to fade after Season 3. But I think that if they revamp the cast, and bring on new high schoolers and make an entirely new plot it will be pretty interesting. But that would mean no more Chuck, Blair, Serena, Dan, Jenny etc. I can’t imagine that. But this cast seems to be dying.
